Telephone Cables

Telephone cables are essential components in telecommunication systems, providing efficient and reliable signal transmission. These cables are designed for both indoor and outdoor installations, offering flexibility, durability, and protection from environmental factors. Available in various conductor sizes and insulation types, they can cater to a wide range of applications, from residential to industrial environments.

The cables are typically constructed with annealed tinned copper conductors, insulated with hard-grade PVC, and are available in armoured (for outdoor use) or unarmoured (for indoor use) configurations. The twisted-pair design and optional shielding ensure minimal signal interference, making them ideal for both voice and data transmission.

Construction:

  • Conductor: Made from high-conductivity annealed tinned copper, with sizes ranging from 0.5 mm to 0.9 mm, ensuring optimal performance and resistance to corrosion.
  • Insulation: Hard-grade PVC or HR PVC compound insulation, offering resistance to electrical breakdown and providing mechanical protection.
  • Colour Scheme: G/WIR-06/02. May 94, standardized color coding to ensure easy identification and reduce installation errors.
  • Pairs: Pairs of insulated conductors are twisted together, with different lay lengths to reduce crosstalk and improve signal quality.
  • Cable Assembly: Cables can have up to 100 pairs arranged in concentric layers. For 200-pair cables, four 50-pair units are stranded together. This helps achieve the necessary flexibility and strength.
  • Screening: Pairs may be individually shielded, or the entire cable can have overall screening with a copper drain wire to minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI) and maintain signal integrity.
  • Sheathing: The cable’s outer sheath is made from high-quality PVC, offering protection against moisture, UV rays, and mechanical stress, extending the cable's lifespan in harsh environments.

Features:

  • Applications: Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, making them ideal for residential, commercial, and industrial installations.
  • Durability: Available in armoured versions for outdoor use to withstand harsh environmental conditions, and unarmoured for indoor settings.
  • Signal Integrity: The twisted pair construction and optional screening ensure high-quality, interference-free signal transmission over long distances.
  • Environmental Protection: PVC sheathing protects the cable from external elements like moisture, dust, and chemicals, ensuring long-term reliability.
  • Versatility: The cable is highly versatile, capable of handling both low and high-frequency signals, making it suitable for telephones, data networks, and other communication systems.
